Why did we named it "The Grease Litter"

“Grease” is one of my favorite movies of all times - Even today, Grease remains a cultural sensation that resonated with youth across the world. Everyone wanted John Travolta's swagger, men wanted their hair greased back in the style of the 70s, leather pants became the rage, the songs were young and fun, and love was the most popular emotion.

If interested, please fill out the Puppy Questionnarie in order to be considered to adopt one of these puppies.

Journal Entries

*Entries on this section will be added as they become available (with date stamps), from the day the mother is bred until the day the puppies leave to their new homes*

05/19/2023 - First breeding

06/17/2023 - Pregnancy confirmed by ultrasoud.

Pregnancy confirmation

07/23 - 24/2023 - Patches started whelping at 3:30 am and finished at 2 am the following day. It was a very long labor. We have 9 boys and 3 girls. All are black spotted. Momma and the pups are now resting and adjusting.

07/24/23 - Email Litter announcement sent out. See it here.

Hearing test scheduled for 09/05 at UF Small Animal Hospital.

07/25/23 - Sadly, Blue Collar passed away due to the fading puppy syndrome. He was apparently normal at birth but gradually faded away and died. All other babies seem healthy and nursing good.

07/27/2023 - Dewclaws have been removed and sent to the lab for DNA testing in order to determine whom are the carriers of the LUA gene. Results should be available in 7-10 business days.

07/30/2023 - Puppies are 1 week of age. All are gaining weight consistently, although the Pink Collar is the only one that still is under a pound. She seems healthy and active, she is just small.

08/01/2023 - DNA Results have been received. 6 of 11 puppies are carriers of the LUA gene. Notification sent by email. See Genetic Testing Report bellow.

08/04/2023 - Pink collar is officially over a pound of weight. While she still the smallest in her litter, I am very happy with her development.

08/06/2023 - Two weeks of age, first deworming completed, weights recorded. Puppies are starting to walk. Their eyes are opening - It will take about a couple of more weeks to know for sure what color are their eyes.

08/08/2012 - Nails trimmed.

08/13/2023 - 3 weeks of age. All the puppies have now their eyes fully open and are walking, are starting to bark and playing with each other. Only one of the puppies have a blue eye, the orange collar. They all seem to respond to noises, so I am certain, none of them are deaf bilaterally. However, unilateral deafness is also common and can only be determined at the hearing test (BAER Test), which will be completed next month.

The pink collar still very tiny compared to her littermates. She continues to develop at her own very rate (a bit slower but acceptable, considering she is the runt).

This coming week, we will attempt to get them started on solid food, which for now consist in a blend of puppy formula, kibble and pumpkin puree.

08/20/2023 – First vet visit completed (House Call); deworming med administered. All puppies seem healthy and growing. Pink Collar has made a tremendous progress. She is active and feisty.

Black Collar (male) is sick, he has some fever, looks like a flu. Vet prescribed antibiotics and we will keep him isolated for now. He has appetite but is not holding down the food.

08/21/2023 – Both litters are out of the whelping boxes and roaming free in the pen. Going forward, all new pictures and videos (both litters together) will be uploaded in a new Google Album (link bellow)

08/22/23 – Black Collar is better. No more fever. Seems more alert and playful. Continues in isolation but is eating now and holding food down.

08/24/2023 – Black collar is back in the crowd. He missed some growing while sick, but I am sure he will catch up soon. He stole the “runt crown” from Pink!

08/25/2023 - Shoutout sent via email to all new puppy owners.

09/05/2023 - BAER Test has been completed. All puppies have normal hearing in both ears (Yayyyy!!) Hearing Test Reports bellow

09/18/2023 - Puppies went to their final vet appointment with us and got their first set of vaccinations. Health Certificates have been issued. They are now ready to go to their new homes!

Choosing a Puppy:

When the new puppies are  5-6  weeks of age or older, and only after DNA (if applicable) and Hearing tests are completed, you will be invited to visit our kennel home to meet them and choose the one to be become part of your family.

While we prefer every prospect puppy owner to personally meet the puppies before choosing and making a commitment, in the given case you are unable to visit, we will provide you with as much information as we are able to (weight and size, pictures, videos etc) in order to help you choose.

There is not an specific order to choose the pups. Based on our evaluation of each, we will do our best to give each Puppy Parent as many options as possible, taking into account each person/family's preferences (Color, Gender, Size) and lifestyle.

Once you have chosen your puppy, you are welcome to visit, as many times as you wish, to personally follow up on your little one's development.

At 4 weeks of age, we should be able to identify the pups that are deaf bilaterally. However, unilateral deafness (Only an ear good) can only be determined at the BAER test, which will be scheduled any time between the 6th to 8th weeks of age. In the given case that your chosen puppy happens to be affected and  you decide against keeping it, your deposit shall be refunded immediately.

IMPORTANT:

We, as The Breeders, reserve the right to have the first pick of any litter.

Breeders and Co-breeders may set aside/hold longer one or more puppies for further evaluation to determine potential.

Delivery and Pick Up

Based on our past personal experiences, we do not use outside transportation companies to deliver puppies. All puppies must be picked up in person OR arrangements can be made for us to personally take the puppy to you, for an additional fee, which will include transportation and lodging expenses as applicable. This service is subject to our availability and is ONLY available to the new puppy owners that live out of state.
